Certificate Program: Our Natural Hair program is an intensive course, with graduates receiving a certificate upon completion.
Professional License Required: To practice Natural Hair cultivation in Michigan or be employed in the field, students must pass the Natural Hair Culturist Licensure Exam and apply for a license to the State of Michigan.

Eligible students in our Natural Hair program may qualify for scholarships, job training grants, & tuition assistance programs. The Natural Hair program is not eligible for Federal Student Aid.
Note: Students at Creative Hair School of Cosmetology, regardless of program of study, are ineligible for VA educational benefits or Michigan Student Aid funds (including TIP). Use the GI Bill Comparison Tool to locate a VA-approved school. Go to the MI Student Aid Programs page and open the Fact Sheet for any program you qualify for to find a list of participating schools.

To receive a Natural Hair license, you must meet the following requirements:
be at least 17 years of age;
be of good moral character;
have an education equivalent to the completion of the ninth grade; and
have successfully completed a course of study of at least 400 hours;
pass the State Board examinations;
and apply for a license online at the MyLicense website www.michigan.gov/miplus, submit the required fee to the State of Michigan.

Creative Hair School of Cosmetology's offered programs meet the State of Michigan's requirements. The school has not determined if any of the programs meet other state's requirements.
A license is not required to practice natural hair cultivation in all states. Check with the State Board of Cosmetology before moving.
