Which FAFSA do I submit?

If you intend to start:

• between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, submit the 2024-25 FAFSA.

• between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, submit the 2025-26 FAFSA (when it opens).

Next, if you will be graduating:

• between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025, also submit the 2025-26 FAFSA (when it opens).

• between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026, also submit the 2026-27 FAFSA (when it opens).

What will I need?

• Your parents’ SSNs if they have SSNs and you're a dependent student

• Tax returns

  • 2022 for the 2024-25 FAFSA

  • 2023 for the 2025-26 FAFSA

  • 2024 for the 2026-27 FAFSA

• Records of child support received

• Current balances of cash, savings, and checking accounts

• Net worth of investments, businesses, and farms

Basic Eligibility Requirements

A student is eligible for Federal Student Aid at Creative Hair School if she/he:

1. Has submitted a valid FAFSA

2. Is a U.S. Citizen (or) an eligible non-citizen

3. Has a valid Social Security number (with a few exceptions)

4. Has proof of a high school education (see Admissions)

5. Provides consent and approval to have her/his federal tax information transferred directly into the FAFSA (and has consent and approval from contributors where applicable)

6. Does not owe money on a federal student grant (such as a Pell Grant)

7. Is not in default on a federal student loan (such as a Direct Loan)

8. Certifies that they will use federal student aid only for educational purposes

9. Is enrolled in the Cosmetology program

10. Demonstrates financial need (for most programs)

Maintaining Eligibility

To remain eligible for Federal Student Aid once enrolled a student must:

1. Maintain basic eligibility

2. Maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP) (see the Creative Hair School SAP policy in the Catalog)

3. Submit a valid FAFSA each year

After your FAFSA is processed, we will text you at the phone number listed to find out when you are interested in attending and schedule an admissions visit/tour. During that visit, you can schedule a financial aid appointment. Our Financial Aid Administrator will use the information from your FAFSA to create a custom preliminary financial aid offer for you to review.

If you haven't been contacted, check your FAFSA Status by logging in and finding your application status in the Status Center under “My Activity,” which displays after you log in if you have already started or completed a FAFSA form.

The status of your FAFSA form will be one of the following:

• Draft: Your section of the FAFSA form is incomplete.

• In Progress: You provided your consent, approval, and signature to your section of the FAFSA form, but the FAFSA form has not been submitted yet.

• In Review: Your FAFSA form was submitted but hasn’t been processed yet.

• Action Required: You are missing your consent and approval or signature or the FAFSA form was processed, but a correction is required.

• Processed: Your application was processed successfully. No further action is needed.

• Closed: Your FAFSA form was never submitted and can no longer be submitted because the federal FAFSA deadline passed.

Once you receive an official Financial Aid Offer, you can indicate whether you are accepting the entire offer, or if you would like to decline all or part of it. Sign, date, and return to the Financial Aid Administrator! If there are additional steps required to receive your financial aid, she will let you know.

You'll receive your funds in at least two payments, called disbursements. Generally, Federal Student Aid disbursements are scheduled for the beginning and midpoint of your academic year or program.

Federal Student Aid disbursements are sent directly to the school, and first used to pay your tuition and fees. Any money left over is paid to you directly for other education-related expenses. This left-over money is called a student stipend (also sometimes called a refund check).
