Cosmetology | Hair, Skin, & Nails

1500 clock hours | 50 weeks

Certificate Program: Our Cosmetology program is an intensive one-year course, with graduates receiving a certificate upon completion.

Professional License Required: To practice Cosmetology in Michigan or be employed in the field, students must pass the Cosmetologist Licensure Exam and apply for a license to the State of Michigan.

  • Eligible students in our Cosmetology program may qualify for federal student aid, as well as many scholarships, job training grants, & tuition assistance programs.

    Note: Students at Creative Hair School of Cosmetology, regardless of program of study,  are ineligible for VA educational benefits or Michigan Student Aid funds (including TIP). Use the  GI Bill Comparison Tool to locate a VA-approved school.   • To receive a Cosmetology license, you must meet the following requirements:

    • be at least 17 years of age;

    • be of good moral character;

    • have an education equivalent to the completion of the ninth grade; and

    • have successfully completed a course of study of at least 1,500 hours;

    • pass the State Board examinations;

    • and apply for a license online at the MyLicense website www.michigan.gov/miplus, submit the required fee to the State of Michigan.
